It has been an incredible season at the Grow Te Puke gardens! As the frontline of the Initiate Kai Resilience project—supported by the Vector Group Charitable Trust—our mission is to put fresh, healthy food within reach of every doorstep in our town.

This season, we’ve reached a record-breaking goal by delivering 4,756 plants to local growers. From hardy staples to the more exotic varieties you might find at Troppo, every plant represents a step toward a more resilient and delicious Te Puke.

From the Soil to the Streets Our team hasn’t just been busy planting; we’ve been busy delivering! We believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality, local produce. This season, our baskets have been overflowing with a massive variety of goods for those in need:

  • The Big Harvest: Massive elephant garlic, leeks, and onions.

  • Fresh & Fast: Crisp lettuces, cucumbers, and juicy tomatoes.

  • The Backyard Bounty: Homegrown bananas, avocados, guavas, eggs, and chillis.

By focusing on “Kai Resilience,” we aren’t just giving a handout; we are giving a hand up. We are teaching our community how to nurture the land so the land can nurture us.
