The Grow Te Puke initiative had a highly visible and successful weekend at the Gardens on Wheels 2025 event, where our efforts to promote local, community-driven horticulture truly shone. Jubilee Park was alive with creativity, hosting the mobile garden spectacle that coincided with the Te Puke Kiwi Coast Lions Garden Ramble.
This event was a perfect demonstration of the “Grow Te Puke” spirit—that anyone can become a grower. The wide range of inventive entries, built on everything from barrows to bicycles, provided practical inspiration for residents looking to start their own productive micro-gardens. The collaborative effort was strong, with the gold-coin People’s Choice voting helping raise funds directly for the Te Puke Community Garden, highlighting the mutual support within our local growing networks.
Troppo Urban Food Forest Giving Back
Our Troppo Urban Food Forest initiative was key to the day, focusing on getting resources directly into the community. We donated a generous supply of sub-tropical and tropical food-producing plants as giveaways. This popular activity helps participants take immediate steps toward enhancing their own gardens and supporting our wider goal of local food resilience. Our team, representing the Vector Group Charitable Trust, was also responsible for capturing the event’s success through photography and video reels.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Te Puke Kiwi Coast Lions Garden Ramble committee for their support of the weekend’s gardening events, and to all our dedicated sponsors, including Arun Mehan Bayleys Real Estate, Te Puke Landscape Supplies, and Te Puke Mitre 10, for helping us deliver a highly engaging and productive community day.
