It’s not every day that your passion project catches the attention of someone who shares your vision for a greener, more sustainable world. That’s exactly what happened when Bahareh from Green and Wild visited our Troppo urban tropical food forest and nursery in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty.

Hi, I’m Bahareh! I journey through stunning gardens, uncovering and sharing the captivating stories and inspiration behind them. Join me as I explore unique, breathtaking green spaces and connect with the incredible people who pour their passion into bringing these visions to life.

Do you have a green space with a story to tell, or are you a passionate individual in the green world looking to share your work? We invite you to collaborate with Bahareh! She’s always eager to connect with those who share her love for the inspiring power of gardens and green spaces. Hi, I’m Bahareh, and I live in a small village nestled in the heart of New Zealand. When people ask me why I dedicate my time to making videos, my usual reply is, “It’s my own little Country Calendar program.” But lately, that answer hasn’t felt like enough. It’s time to share the deeper truth.

Here in New Zealand, we’re fortunate to still have a strong tradition of gardens—not just manicured lawns, but real, vibrant, character-filled spaces that tell a story. Yet, even in this green land, I feel a distinct shift. Priorities are changing. Houses are growing, sections are shrinking, and precious outdoor space is increasingly being paved over, flattened, or covered in plastic. We’re becoming disconnected from nature, and more profoundly, we’re forgetting what it truly feels like to be immersed in it.

But amidst this shift, there’s a quiet defiance. There are still people who haven’t given up on their patches of paradise. Individuals who have spent years—sometimes decades—growing, nurturing, shaping, and loving their gardens. These are people with incredible stories, untold and often unheard. I wanted to change that.

That desire sparked the creation of Green and Wild. It’s my way to document these remarkable stories, to celebrate these breathtaking spaces, and to gently remind people of what’s truly possible when we invite nature back into our lives.

My deepest hope is that these videos serve as a poignant reminder of what we’re losing, and more importantly, what we can still reclaim. Perhaps someone watching will be inspired to rip up a patch of plastic lawn. Maybe a child will grow up remembering the intoxicating smell of wet earth and the sweet fragrance of lemon blossoms. Ultimately, I hope we begin to value our outdoor spaces not just for their tidiness, but for the profound sense of connection and wonder they offer.
